latch + lull Studio ~ Rhegis

Latch + Lull Studio is a creative studio founded by Rhegis Lukoszek—artist, science teacher, and lover of life's quieter moments—in Northern NSW, Australia.

Rhegis is inspired by the beauty found in the lulls of everyday life. The unscripted moments that often pass by unnoticed: a chance conversation, a faraway daydream, a shared laugh, or the stillness between one thing and the next. These moments spark nostalgia, curiosity, and joy—and they're the moments that find their way into her paintings.

Living for the lulls is a gentle reminder to slow down, do one thing at a time, and make space for your mind to wander.

Latch + Lull Studio is where those ideas come to life. It's a place for painting, designing surface patterns, gathering with friends, and making things simply because it's fun.

The studio is also home to the Tinker Shop—an online space created to support people who love to make. Rhegis believes everyone deserves time for a hobby, even though creative pursuits can be expensive. The shop gives makers a place to sell and continue their work and buyers a chance to purchase a unique piece.

How it started

“Growing up in a low-tech world and raising my own children in a high-tech one has made me nostalgic for a slower way of living.

I miss the ordinary moments that gave us space to be bored, curious, and creative. Airport layovers weren't filled with screens—they were opportunities to people-watch, strike up conversations, or simply see where the day took you. Passing the time meant making something with your hands, daydreaming, or letting your imagination wander.

Play wasn't just for children, and "scrolling" was something you made yourself—writing a letter to a friend, rolling it into a scroll, and tying it with string.

Those slower moments didn't feel remarkable at the time, but looking back, they were often where creativity, connection, and the best memories quietly began.

Latch + Lull Studio was inspired by watching my kids play Dinosaur Café. They came up with an idea, ran with it, and invited their friends to join in. If someone couldn't make it, we'd pack everything into the boot and take the café to them.

They did it simply because it was fun. They didn't overthink it or worry about getting everything perfect—they just created something together, and in the process, brought people closer.

Watching them made me wonder how I could reconnect with my own creativity and spend more meaningful time with friends. Then it clicked. I hosted an art exhibition in my home studio.

My friends came. There was a theme. And yes—we all wore costumes to match.

It was playful, creative, and unexpectedly connecting. We laughed, shared stories, and made memories I'll always treasure.”

That's the spirit behind Latch + Lull Studio.

Life doesn't have to be perfectly planned or taken so seriously. There's beauty in the pauses, joy in creating just because, and connection waiting when we gather and share an experience—right where our feet are.
